DIY Faberge Eggs

DIY Faberge eggs are so easy to make and you can keep them for years to come. The picture above is my collection for three years.

Plastic Easter eggs are great because you can open them up and put candy or treats in them. You should be able to get them at your local store and decorations will be at your local craft store, or are sometimes at your local market. You may even have decorations in your craft closet.

You can usually find plastic eggs at your local craft store, dollar store, or supermarket in late February or March.  If you want to get a headstart, try Amazon for plastic eggs.

DIY Faberge Egg Decorations

Decorations are easy if you use sequins and rhinestones that are pre-glued.  You can find them in rolls or envelopes.  Be sure and get several so you have a lot of choices.

If you don’t want to use very small decorations like sequins which could be a choking hazard for very small children, you could use stickers instead. 

Writing a child’s name and year the egg was made in permanent ink is a good idea, too. 

Storing the Eggs

Of course, since these DIY Faberge eggs are plastic, they are not going to go bad.  However, if you stuffed them with edible treats like chocolates, make sure you check them thoroughly before packing them away.  Believe me, I’ve done that before and been greated with rock hard jelly beans! 

Use a leftover egg carton to hold the eggs and put them away for next year.  We make new eggs to add to our collection every year.
