Silicone Food Storage Bags Review – Easy to Use

Silicone food storage bags are great and I’ve been using them in my own kitchen for freezing pre-prepped vegetables. They seal tightly, prevent freezer burn and they’re washable so I can use them over and over again.

I tested these silicone food storage bags the way I test everything else in my kitchen: by actually using them. I pre-chopped and sliced bell peppers, stored them in the freezer, reopened them, removed what I needed, and resealed them.

They come in four sizes, which makes them practical for different types of prep. I wanted to see whether they could realistically replace single-use freezer bags for everyday use.

If you are thinking about reducing the amount of plastic in your kitchen, this is a great way to start. These silicone bags are food-safe, washable, and reusable. They’re easy to open and easy to close. I love them for holding pre-cut vegetables like peppers and celery to use for future recipes.

PROS and CONS

Pros

I love that these bags are easy to open and fully shut. The problem with other plastics bags, and even other silicone bags, is they don’t close securely. When good freezes, it expands, so those other bags open and freezer burn creeps in.

These are completely washable. I wash everything by hand, but I know these are also dishwasher safe. You could even put a leftover in one and heat it in the microwave because they can stand up by themselves.

You can see in the image above that there is frost on the bell peppers after having been in the freezer for a day or two. That’s normal. The little bit of frost is not the same thing as freezer burn and these peppers will be fine.

The other thing that’s great about these bags is they have a little see-through window so you can see what’s in the bag instead of guessing. They fit nicely in my bag holder so I can fill them easily.

They are also BPA free!

Cons

The bags do stand up by themselves, but they need a little help staying open. I used a *bag holder to keep them open and they did great. These come in four sizes, enough for a sandwich, or a small lunch, and some snacks. They are not large enough for a whole chicken.

Silicone Food Storage Bags In Depth Review

In real use, these bags performed well in the freezer. I stored both chopped and sliced bell peppers, reopened the bags later, removed what I needed, and resealed them without issue. The seal slides off cleanly and reseats easily, which is important because many reusable bags lose integrity after repeated opening.

The biggest benefit for me is workflow. For everyday vegetables and smaller portions, I don’t need to pull out my vacuum sealer. That saves time and effort. The seal has been tight enough that I have not seen freezer burn in normal rotation.

The four sizes are practical. Smaller bags work well for herbs, chopped vegetables, or partial ingredients. The larger sizes handle more volume, though they are not meant for very large items. If you’re looking to store bulk meat or a whole chicken, these will not be sufficient.

One thing to note: while the bags do stand upright, they do not remain open on their own during filling. I use a separate *bag holder to keep them open when adding sliced celery or chopped vegetables. It’s not a flaw in the seal, but it does affect prep ergonomics. The good thing is that the ribs in the bag fit very nicely in the bag holder, so not a problem at all.

Overall, these are a solid option for reusable freezer storage in a working kitchen.

Good afternoon and welcome to the Good Plate’s kitchen.
Today I want to review these wonderful silicon bags.
Now see, they sit nicely on your… without falling over.
Now what I like to do, I like to take vegetables
and pre-cut them so I can use them later.
Most bags won’t re-close well, but you see this… comes right off, like that.
And then I can open this and take out what I want.
And then closing it is really, really easy.
Okay, just go like that.
And it’s closed.
And I could stick it back in the freezer.
All this is actually a total of four… bill peppers that have been chopped.
And this is a total of four… bill peppers that have been sliced.
So I have chopped and sliced here.
And the other thing that I really like about this… it fits on one of these.
See?
So we’re gonna take this one here… and I’ll show you how that works.
And you just kind of slide… This is not, you know, obviously didn’t come with
this… but I was happy that it works like
this… because it makes it a lot easier to put things in.
And that way… if I’m going to slice… I’m gonna slice some celery here.
..
And I can use a celery.
To make something else.
And put it in… is super easy.
Just go like this… and drop it in.
I think we’ll… wind fill out.
It did.
Alright.
Okay.
Now…
I just take this… and this out of the way.
Close it up… like that… and then seal it.
There you go.
You gotta get yourself some of these.
These are really, really great.
Alright.
Thank you for watching.
We’ll see you next time on the Good Plate.
