What’s Cookin’? Father’s Day!
When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much he had learned in seven years.
~ Mark Twain
Let’s be honest about something.
Mother’s Day gets brunch reservations booked six weeks out. It gets prix fixe menus, flower arrangements on every table, and restaurants charging double. Moms deserve every bit of it.
But Father’s Day? Father’s Day is an afterthought. A steakhouse special here, a card rack at the drugstore there. And that is not right. Dads deserve the same level of fussiness. They deserve a table that was thought about, food that was planned, and a meal that says someone cared enough to put in the effort.
So this year, we are giving Dad a full Inside-Out Father’s Day. Every dish has a twist. Something unexpected. Something that makes you stop and say: wait, how did they do that?

Tools We Used

Inside-Out Buffalo Chicken
Inside-Out Buffalo Chicken turns the classic inside out for an apartment-friendly air fryer version with all the flavor and none of the mess. It is the star of this table and Dad is going to lose his mind over it.
Dad needs something to drink, and the Watermelon Fix delivers. Pickled watermelon rind juice meets bourbon in a whiskey glass. It is cooling, it has a real kick, and it is more complex than it has any right to be.
Dessert
Inside-Out Almond Joy Cake
The chocolate is on the inside. The outside is white. It is everything Dad loved about that candy bar built into a showstopper cake. It is indulgent, it is nostalgic, and it is going to get a reaction.
