Instructions
Mise en place
Heat the skillet and add the oil. When the oil is shimmering, add the butter.
Add the onions and sauté until the onion is translucent. Add the apple and jalapeno. Sprinkle salt and freshly cracked black pepper.
Sauté for a minute or so, then turn the heat to low, cover, and cook, stirring occasionally for an additional 7 minutes or until the apples are soft.
Push the vegetables to the top of the pan.
Add the franks. If you want to toast your buns, do so now.
Cook the franks, turning them occasionally until they are beginning to brown.
Prepare the buns by putting mustard, ketchup and relish. Of course, omit or add any toppings you do not like.
Put one frank in the middle of each bun.
Top with the vegetable mixture. Enjoy!
Notes
Feel free to omit the mustard, ketchup, or relish. Yellow mustard is a good choice, but Dijon gives more flavor. Choose your favorite mustard.
