Usually on the Annual Cruise Night in Glendale, I usually cook up a bunch of Route 66 food, invite friends over, and then walk over to Cruise Night. This year was a little different, so only Spane, and Amber’s children went. I didn’t have people over, but Spane and I both like chicken wings.

I decided to use my Nesco, because it’s been really hot. This was so simple, and did not heat up my kitchen at all. That’s a good thing!

I made a whole mess of wings, and we did not finish them all, so I put them in the refrigerator.

We had a great time at Cruise Night, Paul Revere and the Raiders were the headline band, and a good time was had by all.

Dead Like Me!

In the morning, when I woke up, it was already hot and I decided to put ice in my coffee. The ice was melted, and so was everything else! I couldn’t hear anything, so I assumed it was the compressor. I called Stevie and Amber and asked it I could put my food in their refrigerator, and barbecue all the meat. They said yes, so I took my big shopping cart, filled it, and brought it all over. I ate the left over chicken wings for breakfast!

Amber, Stevie and I wound up watching Hoarders, and getting frightened, then we watched Dead Like Me, and laughed, and then Spane and I came home.

Luckily, my neighbors were outside talking, and I when I told them what had happened, the one said he would take a look.

It turned out the knob in the freezer was in the off position. When he turned it, the refrigerator purred back to life! Thank God! Thank you Mother Mary for praying for us!

I’ll get the rest of my food back from Amber tomorrow!

Recipe: Garlic, Rosemary Wings

Summary: These are great as an appetizer or snack

Ingredients

Chicken
  • 2 pounds chicken drummettes
  • 2 garlic cloves, sliced
  • 1 branch rosemary, leaves only
  • 1/4 cup white wine
  • olive oil
Sauces
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons French mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon Chipotle powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat Nesco to 350.
  2. Put rack in cook-well, then put in chicken, rosemary, and garlic.
  3. Pour over a little olive oil, and mix to coat.
  4. Then add the wine and put the cook-well into the Nesco.
  5. Cook for about 30 minute or until the chicken is done.
  6. To make the sauces, divide the mayonnaise and put mustard in one, Chipotle in the other.
  7. Mix each thoroughly and place in nice dipping bowls.
  8. Arrange on the chicken wings on a nice serving platter with the dipping sauces.

  2. Oh how yummy! This sounds just a little heavenly. I’m a huge fan of chicken wings, but I get tired of the traditional spicy wings and these just look oh so good! 🙂

      I love chicken wings, too, and I also get tired of hot wings, especially when they are covered with gooey, same flavor red stuff. The ones at the grocery store, in my opinion, are particularly bad because they use chicken wings that have been fried with a batter. Real Buffalo wings are not fried in batter, so the sauce is on the chicken, not fried flour. Ideally, Buffalo wings should be sauced immediately after being taken from the hot oil. They should be piping hot, and the accompanying blue cheese dressing should be cold – and not contain vinegar! The whole point of the blue cheese dressing is the sour cream, which, since it is a dairy product removes the heat from your tongue.

      But, you gave me an idea. I really like habenero peppers. If you have never had them fresh there is a micro-second taste of fresh peach just before the onslaught of heat. I’m thinking maybe a glaze of peach preserve with habenero. I’m going to the supermarket today, and I can pick up some Noyan peach preserves at my local Armenian store, so maybe I’ll make those tonight.

  3. Love Chicken Wings! I have been working on a Jerk Spiced/Pineapple wing that I had on a cruise.

    But I have a beautiful Rosemary plant just begging for this recipe to be tried.

      It’s nice having a rosemary plant sitting outside your kitchen. I have a Sweet Basil plant sitting on top of my television because it got too hot outside and the poor thing wilted. So now, I try to not watch any cooking shows because I don’t want to be tempted to use the one that’s on top of the television.
